Project Goals
Below you can see the goals our team wanted to meet in this project,
and how we met them.
4-H is dedicated to our community, and that includes the environment. Because of this, we wanted the building to be as green and efficient as possible. To achieve this goal, the team had high efficiency windows and doors installed; and decided to use high efficiency air source heat pumps for heating and cooling of the space.
LED lights were chosen for both interior and exterior lighting of the building, with occupancy sensors inside, and solar sensors outside to make sure the lights will only be on when they are needed.
Men’s, Women’s, and a Gender neutral/Family restroom have all been added. This building has the restroom capacity needed for a 250+ person event!
We also added a walk in, handicap accessible shower to the family restroom.
As part of our project, we ensured every part of our buildings public space was ADA compliant, and included a gender neutral/family restroom.
The team wanted to ensure the space would be functional as a robotics lab, art studio, or even a banquet space. Many design considerations were made, including the addition of retractable power cords to the ceiling, and many windows to let in the natural light.
We opted to have a full set of stairs installed to the attic space for ease of access. The attic itself is 8 feet tall by 14 feet wide, and runs the full length of the building (100 feet!)
All together the building has a total of 1,400 square feet of much needed storage space, with all of it being climate controlled.
